Inside the SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball you'll find 4 types of beads made from over 80 different kinds of Earth minerals all producing different, positive effects in your washing machine. Along with 2 powerful opposing magnets which strengthen the effect of washing and sterilization they release ionized oxygen molecules and balance the pH level of the water, similar to that of chemical detergents. This softens the water and fabric making it easier for the movement of the water to remove dirt. Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my SmartKlean® Laundry Ball last? The laundry ball is designed to have a minimum life-span of (1) WHOLE YEAR if you wash 18-22 lb. loads every day. If you don’t wash clothes every day, it can last much much longer! If you have heavier loads we recommend you use two laundry balls for a more effective wash.
I have a newer front-loading washing machine. Can I use the SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball with my machine? The SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball is compatible with ALL types of front loading, top loading and HE washing machines.
How do I use my SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball? Separate whites from colors. For tough stains you can pretreat your clothes with an eco-friendly stain remover or a 1/4 Cup of White Vinegar. Wash in cold water (hot water is not needed). Then place the SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball in the washer on top of your clothes and turn the machine on. You can also skip the Rinse Cycle because there are no chemicals to eliminate, therefore saving water and energy. You can also leave the SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball inside the washer until the next load.
What about smell? What can I do if I miss the smell of the detergent? The SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball will leave your clothes with a fresh, clean scent. If you need to have a strong smell of detergent you can use a scented eco-friendly dryer sheet. There is simply no reason to add all of the additional scented chemicals on your clothes. You should know that most of these products are unhealthy for your skin and respiratory system, so the less you use, the better off you are, especially if you are chemically sensitive. Some of those red eyes, rashes and runny noses are not because of allergies, but due to the perfume and petrochemicals left behind on your clothes.
How is it that the SmartKlean® Laundry Ball washes clothes clean if it does not make any suds? With detergents, you're not washing your clothes with soaps, and you never have. Detergents are not soaps. They are mostly petrochemicals derived from crude oil. Water is the universal solvent. Water is what ultimately cleans your clothes. All detergents do is help water clean better by balancing the pH level and slackening the surface tension of the water in your washing machine allowing water to maximize its effectiveness to clean ALL of your clothes, towels and bedding. The SmartKlean® Non-Detergent Laundry Ball accomplishes the same thing without the use of harmful chemical detergents, bleaches and fabric softeners!
